Hatshepsut Talk NYCNearly 3,500 years ago Ancient Egypt was ruled by Hatshepsut, considered by many historians as “the first great woman in history.” Scholars have long speculated as to why her monuments were destroyed within a few decades of her death, all but erasing evidence of her unprecedented rule.

Kara Cooney, Egyptologist and Professor of Egyptian Art and Architecture at UCLA, will guide us through the ample evidence for Hatshepsut’s reign in an attempt to find the woman behind the statues, monuments, stelae and obelisks.
