18th Annual Memorial Day Commemoration at Green-Wood

Kick off the summer as the Green-Wood Historic Fund hosts its 18th annual Memorial Day concert on Monday, May 30th 2016. Visitors will settle in among Green-Wood’s rolling hills and listen to the ISO Symphonic Band- a wind, brass & percussion ensemble comprising some of the most talented student musicians in the New York metro area, led by its founder and conductor Brian P. Worsdale. The works of many of Green-Wood’s permanent residents, including Fred Ebb, Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Leonard Bernstein, and Paul Jabara, will be featured. This year’s concert is generously underwritten by the Brooklyn Eagle. The concert begins at 2:30 p.m. and visitors are invited to bring a blanket and enjoy this al fresco patriotic performance. Directly after the concert, enjoy a special Memorial Day trolley tour with Green-Wood historian Jeff Richman as your guide. (Space is limited. Advance ticket purchase is recommended.)

Local vendors will offer food and beverages for purchase throughout the day.

The concert is free, but RSVPs are highly recommended. The cost for the trolley tour is $20; $15 for members of the Green-Wood Historic Fund and the Brooklyn Historical Society. Advance ticket purchase recommended. To RSVP for the concert, make an online reservation for the trolley tour or to find out more information, visit www.green-wood.com/toursevents or call 718-210-3080.
