Carol Berkin is Presidential Professor of History Emerita at Baruch College and the author of A Sovereign People: The Crises of the 1790s and the Birth of American Nationalism. Gordon S. Wood (moderator) is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Radicalism of the American Revolution.
