The General Society Artisan Lecture Series continues with artisan perfume producer François Damide, Founder and President, Crafting Beauty, who will be describing how a fragrance is created and manufactured.

Damide will discuss how to create and launch a new perfume from concept to shelf. Through his experience in the fragrance world, Mr. Damide will outline how a perfume is developed, manufactured, branded and marketed. He will also explain the intricacy of creating a fragrance with a master perfumer. As such, a special guest during this presentation will be Mr. Ralf Schwieger, of Mane fragrance house, and Fragrance Foundation Perfumer of the Year. (The highest award remitted to a perfumer in the United States.)

François Damide has had a long career in leading European fashion houses, including twenty years at the leading couture lace company, Solstiss and Bucol/Hermes Textile. In 2010 he established his own company, Crafting Beauty, to open the world of individually designed perfumes to smaller brands. His company produces small production runs and made-in-France-manufacturing to provide “Haute Couture” perfumes. The company, which is now celebrating its 5th Anniversary, produces personal fragrances, pure oils, sprays, candles and soaps.

The Artisan Lecture Series continues a distinguished tradition of General Society public lectures, which started in 1837. The Artisan Lecture Series pays tribute to the art of craftsmanship by featuring internationally known master artisans who describe the intricacies of their specialized crafts.

The Lectures start at 6:30 P.M. in The General Society Library, 20 West 44th Street (Between 5th and 6th Avenues), Manhattan and are followed by a reception. Advance registration is recommended: $15 general admission; $10 General Society members and Senior Citizens, $5 students. To register please contact the General Society at: 212-840-1840, ext 2 or e-mail: [email protected]
