ASF Fellows Concert: Asa Gudjonsdottir

Icelandic violinist Asa Gudjonsdottir has awed audiences around the world with her flawless musicality and interpretation. Accompanied by Peter Eom, cello, and Will Lowry, piano, the 2013 ASF Fellow now displays her talents in a concert at Scandinavia House with works by Edvard Grieg, Aaron Copeland, and Johannes Brahms, along with Ljúflingslög – traditional Icelandic folk songs transcribed and arranged by Atli Heimir Sveinsson.

About Asa Gudjonsdottir
Asa Gudjonsdottir (b. Reykjavík, Iceland) began her study of the violin at the age of three and instantly became mesmerized with the instrument. She has since cultivated her talent with some of the greatest musicians in the world, including Chee-Yun Kim, Joseph Lin of the Juilliard Quartet, and Boris Kuschnir in Vienna; Gudjonsdottir currently studies with Anton Miller at the Hartt School of Music in Connecticut.

Gudjonsdottir has regularly been invited to perform in concerts and music festivals in Europe and the United States, as a soloist and as a chamber musician. Her most recent appearances have been at Harvard’s Eliot House in Boston, Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center in New York, and the Nordic embassies in Berlin. From 2010-2011, Gudjonsdottir held a year-long position at the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. She is the recipient of the Visa Cultural Award in Iceland, a Fulbright Scholar, and a fellow of The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF).
