Asia & Globalization: The Way Forward

AndrewMackenzie_Jun20_600px

This is truly a crossroads moment for the future of free trade and other forms of global economic integration in the Asia Pacific. Can economic growth in the Asia Pacific be sustained in the years and decades to come – and are trade agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) essential tools for that growth? Can such growth move hand-in-hand with a sustainable future in terms of the environment? And – another question heard often here – is the United States missing out on the next phase of globalization in that part of the world?

Join BHP Billiton CEO Andrew Mackenzie for a wide-ranging conversation about these questions and other issues on the mind of the leader of one of the oldest companies in the Asia Pacific region. BHP Billiton has been selling commodities throughout Asia since the late 19th century, and Mackenzie himself has been a global leader in the energy and mining industries for decades. Beyond his business acumen, Mackenzie is also one of the world’s most respected earth scientists and geochemists. Join us for this edition of our special Asia Society 60th Anniversary CEO series.
