Astronomy on Deck REGISTRATION FULL

The Intrepid Museum kicks off this year’s Astronomy Night series with
a very special guest. Hear about life in space from astronaut Kjell Lindgren in his first public appearance since returning from a 141-day mission aboard the International Space Station.

While aboard the ISS, Lindgren conducted studies in the physical and biological sciences, including the “Veggie” plant growth experiment, which NASA hopes will yield plant growth technologies essential to long-duration missions to Mars.

Joining NASA’s 20th class of astronauts in 2009, Lindgren served as lead spacecraft communicator of ISS Expedition 30 before joining the crew as a flight engineer for ISS Expedition 44/45.

Now, after almost five months on the station, Lindgren has returned to Earth and will talk about his experiences conducting two spacewalks during his mission. He’ll also update everyone on how fellow crewmate Scott Kelly is doing as he nears the end of his year in space, and he’ll share their fascinating stories of life in orbit.
Doors open at 6:45pm.

Astronomy Night is free, but advance registration is required.

Registration is now closed for Astronomy Night as we have reached capacity. If you have RSVPed and are unable to attend, please let us know by emailing us at [email protected].
