Beirut’s Maya Chami Presents Of Men, Champagne & Victory Aside and Other Works

Maya Chami, an artist in residence at Watermill and Alwan, who comes to New York from Beirut with an invigorating visual portfolio and anecdotal archives, will present her work, including Graffiki Art and tongue-in-cheek ‘Of Men, Champagne & Victory Aside’, in addition to the work in progress she has developed for the Watermill Residency. Maya Chami will also talk about the challenges faced by digital art and design practitioners in Lebanon and the Arab world, and the path she is forging in the ground-breaking medium of new media in the Middle East.

Maya Chami is in commission by Alwan to develop a short visual documentary about the aesthetics of the immigrant experience to be presented at the Alwan film festival in November 2014.
