CHIU-TI JANSEN, founder of CHINA HAPPENINGS™, is a TV presenter, a lifestyle magazine publisher and a writer based in New York City with a pulse on China. CHINA HAPPENINGS™ is a multimedia platform that introduces contemporary Chinese lifestyle and cultural industries to the West. She founded YUE, a bilingual luxury lifestyle magazine that had gained a following among the Chinese and Chinese American elite.

Prior to founding CHINA HAPPENINGS™, Ms. Jansen was a New York-based corporate partner of Sidley Austin LLP, an international law firm of 1,900 lawyers. She had extensive experiences in advising startups on company formation, venture capital fund-raising and initial public offering. She also advised public and private companies in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructuring and cross-border transactions, equity and debt offerings, private placements, corporate governance compliance and broker-dealer regulations. She lectured on “Financing the Start-up and Growing Business,” as part of Forming and Advising Businesses, Continuing Legal Education Program of the New York State Bar Association. She also wrote about IPOs and disclosure issues for the Wall Street Lawyer magazine and The Deal.

Ms. Jansen hosts TV and video presentations on fashion and style for Phoenix TV, Phoenix Fashion and SINA Fashion, and writes a blog titled CHINESE ELEMENTS for international auction house Sotheby’s and a fashion and style column titled NEW YORK IN STYLE for the Financial Times’ Chinese edition.

A native speaker and writer of Mandarin Chinese, Ms. Jansen holds advanced degrees from Columbia Law School (J.D.) and Yale University (M.Phil.) and serves as an International Honorary Ambassador of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation. She served on the Contemporary Art Advisory Committee of China Institute in America, American Composers Orchestra and the Board of the Couture Council of Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).

SINOVISION’s “W.E. Talk” featured Ms. Jansen in a full-length, dedicated interview in 2013. She has appeared as a fashion expert on China’s top-rated fashion/beauty show I Am a Great Beauty and has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, Women’s Wear Daily, World Journal, Jing Daily, SINOVISION, China Press, and Sing Tao Daily, among others. The October 2016 issue of SELF Magazine (Chinese Edition) runs an interview with Ms. Jansen on the art of finding mentors and sponsors for career advancement. In 2013 she received the Trailblazer Award for Outstanding Asian Entrepreneur from USPAACC NE.

In August 2016, People’s Daily Publishing published her memoir titled Creating Your Star Power: A Guide to Self-Fulfillment. China Mobile is distributing a digital version through its MIGU platform.
