Cary Leeds Tennis Center
1720 Crotona Avenue
Bronx, NY 10457

Explore this award-winning tennis center in the heart of the Bronx’s Crotona Park with architect and builder Peter Gluck of GLUCK+. The flagship for Arthur Ashe’s New York Junior Tennis & Learning program, the center serves an estimated 30,000 students in the South Bronx. Conceptually, the venue is designed as a series of platforms—both for viewing tennis and metaphorically as a platform to encourage afterschool learning, creating opportunities for neighborhood children to experience success on the tennis court as well as in life.

Designed and constructed by GLUCK+ with the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, the Cary Leeds Center includes a two-story, 12,000-square-foot clubhouse and educational facility, with two world-class stadium exhibition courts and 20 public outdoor courts. The building and stadium courts are partially buried to minimize the impact of a large structure in the park and to take advantage of natural geothermal heating and cooling of below-ground surfaces. Courtside, the lower level opens directly onto the two sunken exhibition courts that host qualifying meets leading up to the US Open.

The Cary Leeds Center received the 30th Annual Award for Excellence in Design by the NYC Public Design Commission under Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.

Registration is limited to 20 people.
