Chen Dance Center’s “newsteps”

Chen Dance Center, at 70 Mulberry St. in Chinatown (at the corner of Bayard St.) presents “newsteps,” its semi-annual emerging choreographers series. The May concerts will present works by six choreographers selected through an open audition: Jonathan Breton, Bree Nasby, Hannah Cohen, Janice Rosario and Ashley Carter & Vanessa Martinez de Banos. The emerging choreographers each receive a rehearsal space grant, an honorarium and are produced in three public performances at Chen Dance Center. Since its founding in 1994, Chen Dance Center has assisted over 250 artists in developing new works.
