Creation Re/created: Searching for a ‘Mother’ Story

Genesis Breyer P-Orridge

Reimagined for the Rubin Museum exhibition Try To Altar Everything, “Creation Re/created” explores creation myths, particularly as they are found across cultures and throughout time. This event focuses on allegorical representations of Adam and Eve.

“Creation Re/created” exploits various forms of media (music, body, spoken-word and video) to affect every sense with a deliberate ambiguity and density of meaning, in which linear time will seem to be stretched and condensed. The improvised performance invites the audience into a state of heightened awareness.

Originally commissioned and performed at the Pompidou Museum, Paris in 2009.

A pre-performance tour of the exhibition Try To Altar Everything takes place at 6:00pm and is free for ticket holders. Meet in the Spiral lobby.
