Derek Walcott is the Nobel Prize-winning author of the volumes of poetry Omeros, The Prodigal, White Egrets, and, most recently, The Poetry of Derek Walcott: 1948-2013, which is forthcoming in January. The Sunday Times (London) has described White Egrets as “breathtakingly precise and luminous…haunting…[with] outstanding technical command… One of Walcott’s strongest and most accessible collections.” The Washington Post Book World has praised the work of Derek Walcott for its “unbridled imaginative scope, that feeling of amplitude and sensuous inclusion which we find in Homer—and a few other writers, Lucretius…or Shakespeare or Whitman—and which Walcott can summon as much as any poet now living.”The New Republic has said: “There is no one writing in English at present who can join power with delicacy the way Walcott can.”
