Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) have become an integral part of our military's arsenal for missions ranging from surveillance to offensive purposes. UAS are rapidly transitioning into the civil sector, and their potential can improve safety and effectiveness of civil first responders. Lt. Gann of the Arlington, Texas Police, has led one of the nation's most rigorous testing programs for experimenting with the application of UAS to public safety. Lt. Gann will discuss the Arlington Texas experience, as well as review changes in federal regulations governing the use of UAS, and discuss challenges to UAS in dense urban areas.
