Ebola in the Age of Pandemics

You’re invited to this special event hosted by the EcoHealth Alliance Young Professionals Council. Come and have a drink at the Brooklyn Brewery with us, and learn the facts about Ebola at “Ebola in the Age of Pandemics.”

Doors open at 7:30pm, where guests will have access to unlimited beer provided by Brooklyn Brewery.

At 8:00 pm, Drs. Jon Epstein and Kevin Olival from EcoHealth Alliance will be doing a scientific presentation on the facts about Ebola: where did Ebola come from, and what can we expect to happen next?

Many times, wildlife such as bats are vilified as the carriers of infectious diseases, while the true culprit, unsustainable environmental practices, is seldom investigated. Join EcoHealth Alliance promises an evening that dives beyond the political rhetoric and sensational headlines and takes an honest look at the genesis of disease and what humans can do to help maintain the ecological balance that can prevent the rise of the next epidemic.

Following the science presentation from Drs. Epstein and Olival there will be a question and answer session moderated by Josh Zepps from the Huffington Post Live.

Join Drs. Epstein and Olival and the EcoHealth Alliance Young Professionals Council for an informative and fun evening of networking and connecting with other NYC young professionals with a passion for science, public health, the environment and sustainability.

Location: Brooklyn Brewery, 79 North 11th Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Price: $20 per ticket for unlimited beer, provided by Brooklyn Brewery, for the duration of the event. Guests must be 21+ to attend.

About EcoHealth Alliance:

Building on over 40 years of groundbreaking science, EcoHealth Alliance is a global, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting wildlife and safeguarding human health from the emergence of disease. The organization develops ways to combat the effects of damaged ecosystems on human and wildlife health.  Using environmental and health data covering the past 60 years, EcoHealth Alliance scientists created the first-ever, global disease hotspots map that identified at-risk regions, to help predict and prevent the next pandemic crisis. That work is the foundation of EcoHealth Alliance’s rigorous, science-based approach, focused at the intersection of the environment, health, and capacity building.  Working in the U.S. and more than 20 countries worldwide, EcoHealth Alliance’s strength is founded on innovations in research, training, global partnerships, and policy initiatives.  For more information, please visit www.ecohealthalliance.org.
