Bayona, based on the true life experiences of a family caught in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami—and his experiences working on such films as Trainspotting, Moulin Rouge, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Big Fish, Beginners, and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
