Floral Ghost: Susan Orlean and Philip Taaffe in Conversation

Taking inspiration from New York’s disappearing “flower district,” acclaimed author Susan Orlean and venerated artist Philip Taaffe collaborated on The Floral Ghost, a fine-art book to be released this spring. Orlean’s essay reflects on a poignant moment when she first visited the resplendent district in its heyday; Taaffe’s colorful monotypes recall the universal nature of time passing. Orlean and Taaffe converse about their inspiration and collaboration with Jennifer McGregor, Wave Hill’s Director of Arts and Senior Curator. This event will be followed by a book-signing with Orlean and Taaffe in Wave Hill House.
