Francesco Guzzetti “(Re)defining Standing Sculpture: Italian-American Relationships in the Early 1970’s”

In conjunction with the exhibition Medardo Rosso presented at the Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) through June 27, 2015, this lecture explores the connection between “Arte Povera” in Italy and Conceptual Art in the United States since 1970. Among other sources, Medardo Rosso’s work will be charted in relation to the debate around rethinking of the canons of sculpture. Francesco Guzzetti, Ph.D candidate at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy, is a Research Fellow at CIMA.
