The Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) is thrilled to announce its new season, dedicated to acclaimed Italian modern master Giorgio Morandi (1890–1964). The installation features some 40 paintings, etchings, and drawings and focuses on the artist’s rarely seen works from the 1930s, the decade when Morandi reached full artistic maturity. Most of the paintings have not been seen in the United States for nearly half a century.
In conjunction with the show, CIMA will present select work by four contemporary artists—Tacita Dean, Wolfgang Laib, Joel Meyerowitz, and Matthias Schaller—relating to Morandi’s practice thematically or conceptually. Throughout the year we will be exploring the lasting influence that Morandi has had for artists in a variety of different disciplines.
Beginning October 9th, the exhibition will be open for guided visits on Fridays and Saturdays at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm.

Siamo lieti di annunciare la prossima stagione del Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) dedicata al maestro Giorgio Morandi (1890–1964). La mostra presenterà 40 opere tra dipinti, incisioni e disegni e si concentrerà sugli anni Trenta, decade in cui Morandi raggiunse la maturità artistica. Molti di questi lavori non sono stati esposti negli Stati Uniti da quasi mezzo secolo.
CIMA presenterà a corredo dell’esposizione una selezione di lavori di artisti contemporanei —Tacita Dean, Joel Meyerowitz, Matthias Schaller e Wolfgang Laib— legati concettualmente o dal punto di vista tematico all’opera di Morandi. Nel corso della stagione si esplorerà la durevole influenza che Morandi ha avuto per artisti appartenenti a diverse discipline.
Dal 9 ottobre la mostra sarà aperta per visite guidate venerdì e sabato alle 11, 13, 15 e 17.
