Irish Institute of New York Lecture: Sister Stanislaus Kennedy

Sr. Stanislaus Kennedy, or Sr. Stan as she is affectionately known, is a visionary and social innovator who will deliver the 10th annual Irish Institute Lecture. Raised in County Kerry, Sr. Stan has been a member of the congregation of Religious Sisters of Charity since she was 18 years old. She has devoted herself to helping the poor and homeless and in 2001 she established the Immigrant Council of Ireland (ICI), an independent national organisation working to promote the rights of immigrants through information, advocacy and legal aid. In the course of this lecture, Sr. Stan will reflect on founding the Immigrant Council of Ireland and on how Ireland has responded to immigrants in recent decades.

Funding to endow this lecture series has been generously granted by the Irish Institute of New York, which has been dedicated to the support and promotion of the finest in Irish culture since 1950 and has been a supporter of Glucksman Ireland House NYU since its opening in 1993.
