Kay Ryan served as US Poet Laureate from 2008 to 2010. Her most recent collection, The Best of It: New and Selected Poems, won the Pulitzer Prize in 2011. “Her poems are compact, exhilarating, strange affairs, like Erik Satie miniatures or Joseph Cornell boxes,” wrote J.
