A Look at the Stars: A Celestial Odyssey

7:30—8pm: Lecture by Hallie Franks
8—9pm: Stargazing led by Summer Ash of Columbia Astronomy Public Outreach

Professor Hallie Franks draws from Greek mythology, literature and philosophy to explain the various ways the ancient Greeks understood the celestial. Following the lecture, Columbia Astronomy Public Outreach director Summer Ash provides a guided tour of the stars. Telescopes will be set up and Ash’s team of astronomers will be on hand to answer questions.
