Looking Forward: 103 Orchard and the Puerto Rican Experience

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, a Puerto Rican native and the first Latina elected to City Council, is interviewed by Fordham political scientist Christina Greer about her personal experiences in PR and NYC, and what it means to be Puerto Rican in NYC.

This evening will preview a new exhibit at the Museum. Next year we begin tours of 103 Orchard, telling the story immigration and migration on the Lower East Side from the 1940s to the 1980s. In anticipation of the opening, we’ll host a series of conversations that take a look at the diverse experiences of the 20thcentury.
