Margaret Beals: Films and Stories

BealsinthedesperateheartphotobymeghunniwellMargaret Beals, dancer/choreographer/pioneer in the art of dance improvisation, will host a weekend on her series MARGARET BEALS: FILMS AND STORIES, May 20-22, performances at 7 PM at The Cloud House Studio, 104 West 17th Street. Beals will introduce and comment on all films, which include performances in studios, theaters and the iconic Village nightclub The Bottom Line. May 20th is a screening of “Stings,” the first dramatization of the Ariel Poems of Sylvia Plath (rights were given personally to Ms. Beals by Olwyn and Ted Hughes). The work was co-created and co-directed in 1978 by Beals and Obie-award winner Lee Nagrin. May 21st is “An Evening with Edna St. Vincent Millay, Frederic Chopin, and Virginia Woolf.” May 22 is “Margaret Beals Live at The Bottom Line,” the famed Village club where Beals performed regularly. Jazz pianist Liz Story is also featured.
