Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1946, Marina Abramovic is a performance artist whose work examines the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind. The Museum of Modern Art held a major retrospective of Abramović’s work in 2010.
