Ruthanne Lum McCunn, whose award-winning work has been published in twenty-two countries will talk about her new historical novel, Chinese Yankee. The real-life Chinese Yankee Thomas Sylvanus (Ah Yee Way) was enslaved, fought for his freedom in the Civil War and continued to battle for his rights until his death in 1891. Little wonder The New York Times called him “singular.”
