New York Scandia Symphony Plays Nielsen and Sibelius

The New York Scandia Symphony, under the baton of Dorrit Madsen, will honor two of Scandinavia’s greatest composers, Jean Sibelius and Carl Nielsen, both born in 1865. Nielsen will be represented by the Overture to Maskarade, and his Flute Concerto, featuring flutist Lisa Hansen. By Jean Sibelius is his Karelia Suite, Finlandia, and At the Castle Gate from his Pelleas and Melisande. This event is part of the many worldwide efforts that are being instituted in Finland and Denmark to share the music of these two national and beloved composers.
