Obscura Day 2015: Afterlives After Hours at Woodlawn Cemetery

Step behind the locked gate and into the mausoleums of the most lavish necropolis in the Bronx. Join us as we explore the lives and afterlives of some of Woodlawn Cemetery’s eternal residents, enjoying the sunset from within the locked gate on this after hours excursion.

This 19th-century Bronx cemetery holds around 1,300 private mausoleums of ornate stained glass by Tiffany and John LaFarge and walls of cut marble on its around 400 acres. Our tour will include access to a few of these stunning, usually closed mausoleums. This is a rare opportunity to visit the historic cemetery in the twilight hours and see the sun set on this city of the dead. Please note, after the gates lock you will be the only people in this cemetery, and will not return to the land of the living until it concludes.
