Roosevelt Island

Roosevelt Island’s geographic isolation from Manhattan made it a center for the city’s asylums and welfare cases in the 19th century.

Today it is a thriving neighborhood boasting a gorgeous view of the New York skyline. Join us as we explore its history, including such stops as the FDR Four Freedoms Park, the Renwick Ruin, the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, Blackwell House and the site of the future tech campus of Cornell University.

This tour ends at approximately 12:30 pm.

Meet in front of Starbucks at 63rd Street and Lexington Avenue.

Pre-registration for all tours is required at least 24 hrs in advance. Attendees will be emailed details of the tour — with specific meeting location and additional directions 24 hrs in advance of the tour. All tours happen rain or shine.
