Screening: Sign Painters

This 2012 documentary, directed by Faythe Levine and Sam Macon, features interviews with over two dozen sign painters working in cities throughout the United States–from established veterans and teachers, to young artists starting shops in San Francisco and New York. Despite the fact that many believe the skills developed by sign-painters have been rendered obsolete by the technological innovations, the documentary identifies a growing trend to seek out traditional sign painters and a burgeoning renaissance in the trade. The event will feature a Q&A and book signing with directors Faythe Levine and Sam Macon.
