The past and future of wind energy: Exceeding Past Achievements, a unique view from petrochemical engineer and invention historian Joel Kirman

Joel Kirman, Chemical Process Engineer Member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the New York Academy of Sciences

The focus of the work of Joel Kirman has been in the designing of equipment for and engineering of petrochemical plants. He will explain how windmills protected the dyked land in Holland, pumped water on America’s Great Plains, and today supply renewable energy around the world. He’ll discuss the engineering of modern windmills, including the aerodynamic shaping of blades; and the controls to allow facing the wind and avoid being blown over in storms
