The panel will discuss the rebuilding and revitalization of New Orleans 10 years after Hurricane Katrina.

Roberta Brandes Gratz is an award-winning journalist, international lecturer and author of five books on urban development issues.

Randy Fertel, President of the Ruth U. Fertel Foundation, also heads the Fertel Foundation which co-founded the Ridenhour Prizes for Courageous Truth-telling. He is the author of The Gorilla Man and the Empress of Steak and A Taste for Chaos.

Jed Horne is a Pulitzer Prize winner and former city editor of The Times-Picayune when Katrina struck. His account of the disaster and its aftermath, Breach of Faith, was declared the “best of the Katrina books” on NPR’s All Things Considered.

Lolis Eric Elie is the writer and co-producer of “Faubourg Treme: the Untold Story of Black New Orleans.” A former columnist for The Times-Picayune, he was also story editor for HBO’s Treme.

Karen Gadbois is a textile artist turned journalist. Her blog, “Squandered Heritage,” chronicles the push for demolition in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and the failure of the levees. Her work grew into the first non-profit newsroom, The Lens.

Panel moderator John Berendt is the author of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil – a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in nonfiction and a New York Times bestseller for a record-breaking 216 weeks.
