Talk on “Saving Radio City Music Hall: A Dancer’s True Story” by Rosemary Novellino-Mearns

Rosemary Novellino-Mearns, the dancer who saved Radio City Music Hall, will tell her story October 6, 7 PM, at the Episcopal Actors Guild, One East 29th Street (in The Little Church Around the Corner).  Author of the book “Saving Radio City Music Hall: A Dancer’s True Story,” Rosie made the impossible possible. She headed the group that took on the big business interests that had decided to demolish the classic Art Deco masterpiece – and won!The highly visual presentation abounds in rare film and photos, masterfully organized by William Mearns, singer and Captain of the Singers at Radio City Music Hall when Rosie was a member of the ballet company and Dance Captain. In 1978, drawing upon formerly untapped inner strengths, Rosemary became President of The Showpeople’s Committee to Save Radio City Music Hall, and motivated fellow workers, friends, and thousands of Radio City fans around the world, as well as NY and national media, cultural leaders and politicians to support the cause. As a result of these efforts, the Art Deco palace was declared a national historic landmark. Full of heart and wit, Rosie recently completed a speaking tour in California, and has appeared on various NYC TV shows and venues, most recently The Lamb’s.
