Tenement Talks: All-of-a-Kind Family

all of a kind family

Author Sydney Taylor was born on the Lower East Side in 1904. Between 1951 and her death in 1978, she published five books in the beloved All-of-a-Kind Family series. These children’s classics revisit Taylor’s own childhood in telling the story of a Jewish family living in immigrant New York. As part of the Tenement Talks series, a panel will discuss Taylor and the impact of her books on their own lives. Taylor biographer June Cummins will be there, as will writers Anna Holmes and Rebecca Traister, historian Hasia Diner, and publisher Lizzie Skurnick, whose company is rereleasing All-of-a-Kind Family titles.

This event is free and seating is first-come, first-served. Doors will open at 6 pm. Books will be available for sale with a 15% discount for those in attendance. If you have questions, contact Laura Lee at [email protected] or 212.431.0322 ext. 259.
