To mark the publication of his new collection of essays, Typewriters, Bombs, Jellyfish (NYRB, 2017) award-winning novelist Tom McCarthy delivers a special one-off lecture at Paula Cooper Gallery. ‘Nothing Will Have Taken Place Except the Place’ ranges through the worlds of literature, visual art, and sport to track a set of relationships: between media and violence, space and writing, a work and its ’event’. The lecture will be followed by a discussion between Tom McCarthy and Hal Foster.
