Two Jewish Loves: Food and Literature

In hilarious, poignant, and tragic literary scenes, actors and authors depict the very particular ways Jews love food. They’ve been writing about it through the ages: a shtetl dweller lures a traveler away from his train and into his minyan by promising a delicious Shabes dinner; a family of adult siblings convenes for a big dinner and expertly sets into slicing one another to pieces; and a delicatessen waiter speaks the wisdom of the great rabbis. Enriched by selections from the YIVO Archives, this event is a featured program in the NYC-wide Festival of Jewish Food and Literature, and is sponsored by YIVO, American Sephardi Federation, The Jewish Heritage Project, Tablet Magazine, and the Literature Program of the New York State Council on the Arts.
