Unpacking the Day: A Collaboration Between Neil Goldberg and Maira Kalman

Illustrator and author Maira Kalman and video artist Neil Goldberg are both deeply drawn to every day, mundane moments others might pass by– a snippet of overheard conversation, a discarded rubber band, the sight of someone eating a bowl of oatmeal through a diner window. They collect these experiences and observations, and from them make art. One day earlier this month, they explored the city together: having breakfast, visiting galleries, getting a psychic reading, buying a pencil. They’ll show us what they found and will tell us how they use those materials and experiences in their creative processes in a conversation moderated by Tom Finkelpearl, Director, Queens Museum of Art. Reservations required.
