In this philosophical/performatory workshop led by theater director and developmentalist Mary Fridley, we’ll work to challenge our understandings of identity, relationship, self and other through the writings and stage plays of postmodern playwright and public philosopher Fred Newman. Using excerpts from talks and improvising scenes from some of Newman’s plays, we’ll move “around and about” some novel and unexpected ways of creating relationships – and life.
MARY FRIDLEY is a fundraising professional who serves as the Institute’s pro bono Director of Special Projects. She is a graduate of its therapist training program, and for many years practiced as a social therapist. A seasoned producer and director, she has directed and assistant-directed more than 25 off-Broadway theatrical productions at the All Stars Project’s Castillo Theatre. Her production credits include Fred Newman’s award-winning feature film,”Nothing Really Happens (Memories of Aging Strippers)”.
