3rd i NY presents Kashmir

Kashmir focuses on two young men striving to achieve their dreams in one of the most contentious and militarized regions in the world, Kashmir, India. For two PhD students Javaid and Iqbal, a childhood rife with curfews, crossfires and crackdowns has given way to a generation using their education to explore and challenge heavy militarization and fundamental problems in Kashmir while carving a peaceful path to their future. By bringing to light the human stories of these young Kashmiris who are invested in peace, we hope to promote the voices of a generation that has grown up in conflict, presenting a unique perspective and raising crucial dialogue about the cost of militarization, human rights violations, and the desire for peace and justice.
Screening will last for 20 minutes, with a discussion afterwards.
