A Christmas Carol in a Manhattan Mansion

The Morris-Jumel Mansion is proud to partner with performers, Jeffries Thaiss and Eric Scott Anthony, to present a fast-paced, imaginative adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless holiday classic! Suitable for all ages, this riveting, two-man performance merges Dickens’ brilliant original text with both traditional and unexpected Christmas music, as well as old-fashioned sound effects, all performed live! The talented, and versatile performers will turn back time, sweeping you into the 19th century holiday season, in the intimate setting of Manhattan’s oldest residence.

Presenting this epic story simply, with just one actor and one musician, brings an immediacy that’s very exciting,” said co-adapter and actor Jeffries Thaiss. “We’ve performed in large theaters, and small clubs, but doing it in an historic mansion, in a place that was here when Dickens was here, is magic.”

Actor, Jeffries Thaiss, performs all of the roles – Scrooge, Tiny Tim, the Ghost of Marley, and all your other favorite characters – just as Dickens, himself, performed it in 1853! Broadway veteran, musician/actor Eric Scott Anthony accompanies all the action with traditional Christmas carols along with Victorian Era sound effects. The elegant stage is the festively decorated Main Hall of the Morris-Jumel Mansion!

Light refreshments will be served in the French Parlor.

75 minutes; no intermission. $30/$25 MJM Members
