Accounting for Capitalism: Book Talk with Michael Zakim

The Department of Historical Studies and the Heilbroner Center for Capitalism Studies at the New School is proud to host Michael Zakim, professor of History at Tel Aviv University, for a book talk on Accounting for Capitalism: The World the Clerk Made.

Michael Zakim is the author of Ready-Made Democracy: A Political History of Men’s Dress, and Accounting for Capitalism: The World the Clerk Made. Zakim has also edited, together with Gary J. Kornblith, Capitalism Takes Command: The Social Transformation of Nineteenth-Century America, and, most recently, a special issue of the Journal of the Early Republic devoted to “Knowledge and its Uses,” which includes his essay on the “Political Geometry of Statistical Tables.”

Presented by the Historical Studies program at NSSR and the Heilbroner Center for Capitalism Studies.
