This special conversation brings together Lin Hwai-min, founder of Taiwan’s Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, and Jodee Nimerichter, Executive Director of the American Dance Festival (ADF). Moderated by Rachel Cooper, Director of Global Performing Arts and Culture as Diplomacy at Asia Society, the program celebrates decades of artistic exchange between Taiwan and the United States.

Founded in 1973, Cloud Gate is the first contemporary dance company in the Chinese-speaking world and remains a global cultural icon. ADF has been a major partner in Cloud Gate’s growth, and Asia Society was among the earliest institutions to introduce the company to U.S. audiences.

Through personal stories and behind-the-scenes insights, this lively conversation reveals how these partnerships shaped Cloud Gate’s journey from Taiwan to the world stage.
