Activism in Context: An Intergenerational Dialogue on Organizing in the Shadow of the 2016 Elections

This year’s historic 2016 election casts a long shadow over the history of feminist activism across different generations. The first in a series of dialogues with the classes of 1968–1974, this event offers an opportunity for social justice feminists to engage in generative dialogues with activists across generations. Current Barnard students join alumnae from the class of 1971, including Katherine Brewster and Janet Price, who were catalyzed by their involvement in anti-war movements, anti-gentrification organizing, protests to end institutionalized anti-Black racism on campus, and their experiences of gender oppression within activist communities. BCRW Senior Activist Fellow Katherine Acey moderates a vital discussion that promises to illuminate our current political landscape with the hard-won wisdom of our past struggles.
