Adam Sadberry, Flute

Adam Sadberry will play seven solo flute pieces on a nature theme.

Adam Sadberry is the acting principal flutist of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and his orchestral experiences include performances with the symphonies of Albany, Detroit, New World, Omaha, and Sphinx. Adam has also played in studio orchestras and can be heard on the soundtrack of Disney’s The Lion King (2019).

As a soloist, Adam has performed concerti with the Clear Lake Symphony, Conroe Symphony, Cordancia Chamber Orchestra, and the Detroit Chamber Orchestra, and he has received top awards and recognition in numerous competitions from organizations including the Houston Symphony League, National Association of Negro Musicians, U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” and YoungArts, among others.

Adam values teaching as much as he does performing; he maintains a flute studio both in person and online, and he currently coaches chamber ensembles through the Memphis Youth Symphony Programs. He has previously taught through organizations including the Eastman Community Music School and Memphis Music Initiative.

As a player and personality, Adam has been featured on numerous radio stations, online programs, podcasts, and articles: highlights include Backstage Pass on WXXI, Classically Black Podcast, From the Top on NPR, the National Flute Associations’s Summer Series, and the I Love Memphis blog.

Adam received a bachelor of music in flute performance and a performer’s certificate from the Eastman School of Music, and he is indebted to all of his former teachers and mentors including Bonita Boyd, Anne Harrow, and Jennifer Keeney.
