In honor of the United States' 250th anniversary, the Museum at Eldridge Street presents a special program on the Lower East Side's revolutionary history, led by Scott Brevda, the Museum's Deputy Director for Education and Accessibility.
The program traces the story of the Rutgers and Delancey families — two of New York's leading colonial dynasties whose opposing revolutionary politics would permanently alter the neighborhood's streetscape and shape its next two and a half centuries. Using primary sources including historic maps, the program identifies the war's few remaining traces in the area today and explores the modern streets named for revolutionary soldiers, spies, and statesmen.
Pay-what-you-wish: Adults $12 | Seniors $10 | Students $8
