Alan Lomax: “The Midnight Special | Century of Story Song”

In the 1940s, ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax brought The Midnight Special series to The Town Hall. Lomax took advantage of the discounted after-hours rental rates at the hall and held notable events like Blues at Midnight, Ballads at Midnight, and perhaps the most famous, Calypso at Midnight.
