A sculptor who began working during the postwar period in a classical figurative style, Alina Szapocznikow radically reconceptualized sculpture. Alina Szapocznikow: Sculpture Undone, 1955–1972 offers a comprehensive overview of this important artist’s work that responds to many of the ideological and artistic developments of her time. Her artwork is at once fragmented and transformative, sensual and reflective, playfully realized and politically charged.

Presented by  Paula Stuttman.  Paula Stuttman is an artist and a part-time assistant professor in art history at The New School. She is also a gallery lecturer and educator at MoMA, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and The Jewish Museum.
