This year's lecture, The Urban Naturalist: The Roosevelt Legacy, will explore the timely and important topic of urban conservation. President Theodore Roosevelt, a New York City native and life-long naturalist and conservationist, inspired a nation to protect and preserve the natural world, from America's wild spaces to its national parks. As the breakneck growth of cities increasingly affects the natural world, we must remember this legacy and galvanize the next generation to become stewards of our environment. This panel will discuss the importance of building public engagement in densely populated areas, such as New York City, to discover, restore, and maintain our natural resources.
