Art & Activism: Working Along the Lines of Activism & Artistic Expression

This three-part series in collaboration with the NY State Bar Association will explore the world of activist art from artistic, legal, and social perspectives. Tonight, we begin with Activist Art: An Artist’s Perspective. The discussion will consider the level of vulnerability required to make art in pursuit of social change, the personal motivations for such a practice and address the legal concerns for artists contemplating artistic activism. Speakers will include Ming Smith, Adrienne Fields, and Zoe Buckman, and Halima Taha as moderator.

Part II on institutional considerations and Part III on digital issues will be held on November 15 and January 15.
