Is contemporary art in a bubble and headed for a crash? If not, what is keeping it afloat? More broadly, what role does economics play in art today, not just in terms of market dynamics, but visually? How are artists interpreting the financial crisis? How has the art world’s emphasis on money impacted the contemporary art produced and acclaimed today? And, according to our panelists, what direction will the art market – and art – take in the near future? This unique event will tackle these and other challenging questions that arise at the intersection of art and economics.

Participants include:

Andy Augenblick, President, Emigrant Bank Fine Art Finance

Lisa Dennison, Chairman, Sotheby's

Lucy Mitchell-Innes, Owner, Mitchell-Innes Nash Gallery, and President, Art Dealers Association of America

Elisabeth Sussman, Curator and Sondra Gilman Curator of Photography, Whitney Museum of American Art

David Adler (moderator), Author of Snap Judgement, Producer of Mind Over Money and Bloomberg Markets Magazine moderator
